Apple Raises TV Streaming Price to $14.99 a Month
Apple increased the monthly and annual price of its TV streaming service and lifted the cost of the individual Apple One bundle.
Apple raised the price of Apple TV on Friday to $14.99 a month, up from $12.99. An annual subscription now costs $119, compared with the previous $99 price.
The company also increased the individual price of Apple One, the bundle that includes Apple TV, iCloud storage, Apple Music and Apple Arcade. That plan now costs $21.95 a month, up from $19.95.
The latest change follows an increase one year ago that moved Apple TV from $9.99 to $12.99 per month. The service launched in 2019 at $4.99 a month.
Apple joins Peacock, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, Max and YouTube Premium in raising streaming prices in recent years. Some competitors have placed higher charges specifically on viewing without advertising.
The Apple TV catalog includes “Ted Lasso,” “Your Friends and Neighbors,” “The Morning Show,” “Severance,” “Silo” and “Mark Matter.” The service also holds exclusive rights to Charlie Brown specials and Formula 1 racing.
Apple separately raised the monthly cost of Apple Music in July, from $10.99 to $11.99.
The pricing changes came after Apple reported record revenue of $109.4 billion for its June quarter, exceeding analysts’ estimate of $108.65 billion. It was the company’s final earnings report before Chief Executive Tim Cook steps down.
A 22% increase in iPhone sales and record Mac revenue for the spring quarter helped produce the result. Tariff refunds added about 5% to profit during the period.
Apple had not provided a comment on the new prices when approached by Fox Business.
