Sommer, Acerbi, Darmian, De Vrij leave Inter Milan
Inter Milan announced on Tuesday the departure of goalkeeper Yann Sommer, central defenders Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij as well as right-back Matteo Darmian.
Former Switzerland keeper Sommer joined Inter in 2023 and won two Serie A titles, an Italian Cup and an Italian Super Cup as well featuring in a brace of Champions League finals.
The 37-year-old's starting berth will likely be taken by Spaniard Josep Martinez, who had been his understudy in recent campaigns.
"Sommer carried responsibility with remarkable composure, giving confidence not only to his defenders but to the entire team," Inter said.
"His presence between the posts became a cornerstone of Inter's success, while his comfort with the ball at his feet made him a key part of the team's build-up play."
Acerbi, 38, departs having joined from Lazio in 2022 while 36-year-old Darmian arrived from Parma six years ago, originally on loan.
The Netherlands De Vrij headed to Inter from Lazio in 2018 lifting Serie A three times.
Christian Chivu's Inter begin the defence of their Scudetto title on the weekend of August 22-23.
