Ex-world snooker champion jailed for 7 years for child sex crimes
A court in Scotland on Tuesday sentenced former world snooker champion Graeme Dott to seven years in prison after he was found guilty of sexually abusing two children.
The 49-year-old was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh, where judge Sean Smith told him he "robbed the complainers (victims) of a significant part of their childhood".
A jury in August found Dott guilty of subjecting a girl and a boy to multiple incidents of abuse between 1993 and 2010 when they were pre-teens.
A five-day trial heard that Dott exposed himself in front of both children, touched them inappropriately and kissed them.
He was found guilty of two counts of lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour after denying the charges.
Police Scotland after the trial called Dott a "dangerous individual".
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association permanently revoked Dott's membership after his conviction.
Dott won the 2006 World Snooker Championship and was runner-up in 2004 and 2010.
